Kit Design Tutorial for BeginnersHere

Football shirts don’t get too much more iconic than - while we’re sure we’ve used that phrasing before - the style worn by Porto-based Portuguese side Boavista Futebol Clube.

With that in mind, they had to at some point feature in our Kit of the Week (KOTW) challenge, and it was the 249th stage that ended up being the one.

It featured a whole load of different approaches but the famous chequerboard effect was the theme throughout, either amplified or played down.

kunto put together a mind-bending optical illusion - nope, the pattern isn’t wavy - while ArmorKuma decided to play with the pattern as a sublimated ghost print/jacquard alongside a traditional effect on an under-neck panel.

The approach from HiK4L got us thinking the black-and-gold football shirts shouldn’t necessarily be put out to pasture yet and OTHYcreative used that colour combination alongside white to create something truly spectacular - and the pattern on the cuffs actually is wavy in that case.

The members really are playing 3D chess. wuodek went with a Trefoil’d-up shirt that brought to mind those misleading Croatia leaks (and the bona fide range) from a couple of years ago, while winner Corinth used the branding of current supplier Kelme on a black Away with tonal patterning nodding to a ribbon effect we’ve seen used before.

So congratulations to Corinth, and to all the entrants - another stage that made for an impressive voting page!
